Player profile across multiple consoles
So I think I finally convinced my wife to get an Xbox for our cottage, YES. What I have been doing is disconnecting my home one and bringing it up here. But, here is my issue and I wonder if anyone knows the best solution. If I buy a second console for the cottage how can I use my profile 'Fischs3' on both systems? I don't have router type Internet up here, only cellphone 3G access so saving my profile to the cloud will not help.
So if I want to continue for instance my Event list on FM4 at the cottage will I have to download my profile to a USB stick load it up here and then when I am leaving here load the profile with any progress done at the cottage and reload it back at home. Further, I have 3 boys all with their own profiles so I would have to copy 4 profiles each time. Is this the only way to go across consoles? Seems a little painful and I worry about getting a corrupt file from transfers back and forth. Any further suggests would be appreciated.
My next issue is to either buy one now or wait for the Halo 4 console to come out in November.

I think that the files would only be corrupted if you were to pull it out mid-sync
or pull the plug or something like that and even if the files where to be corrupted it would only be a copy of the profiles I think?

Yes. We are up to 3 Xboxes at home and it's a nonissue, especially with cloud saved games and USB sticks.
For Forza, or other games where the saved content is PRECIOUS and/or it simply doesn't support cloud storage, get yourself a USB thumb drive. I currently carry around a 4GB stick that is more or less my "Forza stick". This would also work in situations where you lack internet access. Simply choose the USB stick as your save device each time you launch the game.
As of a recent patch, you can have your profile saved on each console and available for login (you can also specify if you want it to require a password or not). Alternatively you can store your profile on said USB stick, ensuring that only the guy with the key can ever login as you.
The catch is that you will need to download DLC on each console, which is a minor pain but otherwise not a big deal. I bet you could save the DLC on your USB stick, but I have not tested this, nor does my gut like the thought of it.
In your case I would go the "on the USB stick full-time" approach and bring your cottage console down to the house once a month for DLC updates and/or patches.

I would guess that you would have to load all the data onto a USB flash drive or something. I was told the one that I bought would erase all the data on it if it was removed, but I haven't tried doing it yet. I think the guy told me that to scare me away from modding the game. then I told him that I wouldn't be asking him what I can use to give my xbox some extra memory if I knew how to mod a game...

I dont have an actual hard drive and all my xbox data is spread out on about 7 flash drives of various sizes. I have a seperate one for each forza game and the others are for downloaded games and other random stuff. I have downloaded all my DLC stuff to them and I have had no problems.

Huh, well that's good to know. Maybe it's time to upgrade the size of my Forza Stick, hehe.
BTW, you can only go up to 16GB with USB storage media on the Xbox consoles.

Re: Player profile across multiple consoles
Thx guys I knew a simple answer was there somewhere. I will definitely pick up a 16gb stick and use it only for Xbox. I just read posts about guys losing their data when using a USB, I am sure it has a lot to do with user error.
One thing I have noticed, Forza is really dependent on Xbox live. Up here, I obviously can't download anything, can't play rivals, can't play club races or series, no auction house and I can't buy any tunes for cars. Basically, it comes down to hot lapping and event list only.

Oh, I almost forgot that you can buy a 250 gig xbox hard drive for about $130. then you won't have to get multiple flash drives
