Laying in my hospital bed watching South Park. A bit sore, but everything went well. Although we don't have official confirmation yet, the surgeon doesn't believe it was cancer. They also left me with at least 3 parathyroids (good thing) and my voice hasn't been affected. Success!

You've got 3? How many does one normally have?

I guess congrats on coming out of surgery?

Get well soon. Need you out there on the track.

Most people have 4, some have up to 6. Hell, some may have 8? We don't know how many I started out with. They are little white spherical things that exist in and around your thyroid glands. Their job is to metabolize calcium. One of the risks of surgery is that the surgeon either screws up or has no choice but to remove them all (eg. parathyroid cancer). If that happens you're in for a life of miserable inconvenience, or so I've been told. The happy goal is to end up having at least 1, because you can get by just fine with only 1. I'll take my 3, though. Smile
