5/5 split
So I was toying around with another idea. I thought it might be a fun concept. What if we got 2 teams of 5 and then competed across 2 games. Example: team one picks five races on FM4/fh, and team 2 picks 5 battle scenarios on cod/battlefield. You then play for points and whoever had the most points after the 10 rounds win. What they win I don't know, I haven't thought that far. Thoughts?

Complicated but sounds exciting.

Re: 5/5 split
Trick would be finding the second game that everybody has on 360.
My list of non-racer possibilities:
I think that's about it. Survivors vs. Undead in L4D could be fun, as could a progress-based contest of BLOPS Zombies.

- CoD (MW, MW2, MW3, W@W, BLOPS)
- Halo 3, ODST, Reach
- Battlefield (1943, BC, BC2, BF3)
- Left 4 Dead (1 & 2)
- NHL 10, 11, 12
- Bioshock 2
- Dead Space 2

Re: 5/5 split
I have none of these games.
I don't have that many games for the 360. If I buy more than 1 game a year I'd be amazed. That being said, I've been tempted to pick up NHL 12 cuz it's cheap.
FPS aren't my thing.

As team captain I demand that you guys broaden your horizon. Maybe ease into a fps. Nazi zombies anyone?

I would need to be one of the FM/FH players... I refuse to play FPS on console! PC4Life!

I WAS ONCE LIKE YOU. Two years of working at home made enjoying myself at my PC, where I had just been for 8+ hours, impossible. Drove me into the living room and that's when I started picking up my Xbox pad. Fast forward a few years and now I prefer it there. To each his own I say, though anyone who gets snobby about their preference is immediately "wrong".
EDIT:
Wrote that quickly, didn't mean to imply you are a snob if it came across that way. I've encountered several snobby-jerks before though and they drive me crazy. 1 of 2 geeky things that are easy to troll me into soapboxing about. I say this freely admitting that I used to be among the worst of snobs. I've actually gone back and apologized to my console gamer friends, heh.

Re: 5/5 split
I never take it personally (ok maybe sometimes)...
That's why my statements are in the 1st person. They only apply to me. I prefer FPS on PC today... Will that ever change, I don't know. There is a "mouse" for the Xbox, and I may check that out. PC gaming is getting hella expensive (new rig every 3 years)... I'm really wanting to go ultra mobile with the computer (new Windows 8 Pro/RT device), so I may end up playing FPS on console, or just give up FPS all together!

Re: 5/5 split
I'd say go with FPS on a console. It has taken me a few years now to get "decent" with a gamepad, and that's usually good enough to have fun. I have also decided that not having to read text chat or deal with hacks far outweighs my lousy gamepad skeelz. I miss 32 versus 32 matches more than anything, though.
While trying to acclimate to the controller I read a piece of advice that helped me a lot. Set your controller up to be the opposite of how you configure your mouse on the PC. For example, if on PC moving the mouse "up" makes you look "up", make sure you invert your controller so "down" equals "up".
It is weird advice but it works. It makes the controller SO foreign that you mentally approach it as something new rather than being frustrated in the fact that it isn't "working like your mouse does". Once you start getting used to that, you can switch the config to be whatever you wish. Hopefully during that time you've learned to rely on strafe more than only subtle aiming movements, you're used to the weird acceleration, and the controller itself is comfortable in your paws.

Re: 5/5 split
I can always rent blops 2 on a weekend if I know ahead of time. I have w@w, mw2, and gears. I just figure this would be alot of fun and different. On our series race everyone's trying to avoid each other, in a fps we'll be trying to kill each other. That's what friends do right?

Re: 5/5 split
I like the NHL 12 idea as well. It is quite cheap, so not likely to burden anyone who needs to go pick it up (like me, although I've had it in hand before changing my mind). Good idea Low, would be fun to see how skills vary from game to game. And I think a 5-on-5 hockey matchup would be extremely fun. I like zombies too though, as evidenced by my most recent clearance apparel purchase:

Re: 5/5 split
Haha, nice! If you can kill Zombies calmly you're pretty much the king of badasses.
I hate to admit it but I've picked up the Halo bug. Halo is weird and I'm not very good at it, but it has a charm to it that I can't deny. It is SO FUN when you're playing with friends. When you're not, it's "meh". Something to think about. I'll be picking up Halo 4 on Tuesday.

Re: 5/5 split
We should all get PGR 4 and race in lightning storms and icy tracks. And I can't imagine its expensive. A 4 year old game that wasn't popular. We could have Ariel Atom races or motorcycle races. Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14s and Suzuki Hayabusas. It would be insane.
