Left-foot braking
Now that the club is using 4WD turbo cars I'd like to mention this technique.
Its called "left-foot braking" because you brake with your left foot while on the gas with your right foot its a fine balance. This is especially helpful if your car has a turbo this technique allows for the boost to be max at the exit of a turn rather than the turbo to be spooling up again. Should be a cool thing to learn if you have a wheel and pedals.
This is what I was doing during suzuka a few times and that motegi practice run in the civic to cure some of the understeer since the suspension was not finished.

Re: Left-foot braking
One thing that helped me improve my general "wheel" lap times, and get them closer to my controller times was learning to left foot brake. You brake just that much quicker since your foot is already on the brake. Also as fear pointed out it helps with keeping your boost up through a corner.
