As a racing fan, I also love Rally and Off-Road racing. Just wondering if any of you have Dirt2 or Dirt3, and, if so, is it worth it? Do you play online? etc....

I haven't played them but I think I'm going to pick up Dirt 3 Complete Edition when it comes out later this month.

I have Dirt 3 actually bought it before Forza 4 came out. It is okay but I don't play it much and rarely online. I don't care for the graphics too much. The game has a kind of off brown tinge to it. Not sure if they did this on purpose to symbolize dirt or what. For a second race game I have F1 2011, I like it better than Dirt 3, the racing part is more like Forza 4 IMO. But honestly, neither of these games come close to Forza 4. Best advise is to look at one of these games like a movie sequel. It won't be as good as the original but try to judge it on its own.

I've heard that F1 is HARD.

Still, being an F1 fan, I'd love to get it. Just haven't found the cash reserves for it. The only thing that's unrealistic is if you manage to take Force India/ HRT/ some other 3rd tier team to a podium finish. Of course, this is me standing on my soapbox having never played the game. But the vids I saw of it looked amazing.

Those full motion simulators are RIDICULOUS lol. But how fun would it be to try one of those Razz

As far as dirt/f1 etc. I just recently managed to snag a cheap copy of f1 2011. And with the controller its not very fun. I find it hard to be smooth with it etc. But with the wheel, boy oh boy this game is fun. It's definitely a hard game. Right now I'm just playing with the AI on easy but I have all the damage, flags set to full, And I just recently finished the Monaco GP after restarting 100 times...didnt help that i got 2x 10 place grid drop penalties for extremely aggressive overtaking.

As for dirt...i rented dirt 2 cause I wasnt sure what to expect. But if your a fan of rallying and having fun going sideways through hairpins then definitely pick it up. As for dirt 3 Im waiting for the complete edition to try it out. Dont think I'd be disappointed though! Would love to hear your opinion when you get to try them out Smile

Hi Guys,

I played Dirt2 a while back and found it great fun, physics and AI is a little rusty but DIRT3 was meant fix a load of issue's and improve the overall look (not that there was much to do). My favourite car was a Ford MKii Escort, for me such an iconic rally car in the UK and Europe.

I know what you mean about restarting the race on F1, very hard game to get a whole race in without making a mess of something.

Not to dwell too much about other games but it would be good to try Dirt and F1 online but with the guys from the club rather than the general public.

That is the reason I posted this here. If other members have the game, we could all play together from time to time. I played all versions of GranTurismo (except 5 since I do not have and will not get a PS3), and I loved the fact it had Rally racing. Even though I live in the US, I am a huge fan of the WRC (I wish Subaru, Toyota and Mitsubishi would come back in full BTW). I'm not a fan of drifting, but I LOVE to drive sideways in a rally car on dirt, gravel and tarmac. I may pick up DiRT 3 when the complete edition drops....

I still have my ps2 and my old copy of gran turismo 3 a-spec...I found myself driving the rally races more just because they were more amusing to drive Razz. I never got too far in that game when I was younger though. I always used the AI as my "bumper rails" through the corners Razz

They will probably include some sort of rally (Gymkhana maybe) in the forza spin-off game out this year to attract a wider audience. Personally I dont think they should as it will inevitably dilute the circuit racing part.

I think Forza Horizon is going to be more arcade style than sim.

I have no information to base this on. Just a complete guess on my part.
