2012 24h Le Mans photo galleries - Great Reference

The scrutineering for next weekend's Le Mans race started yesterday, and there are a bunch of great pictures up on the website at lemans.org/en/races/24h-du-mans/photos-gallery.html (I can't post proper links yet, just copy/paste this into your browser.)

Looking through race galleries is a great resource for ideas for paints, and even if you're not interested in doing full replicas, it's a good way to get general ideas for "race style" original paint jobs. It's one of the ways that I find inspiration for my own work.

I'm totally planning to make a replica of the "caution stripe-paint splatter" 458 for sure (bottom of page 12, Sunday), though it's second in line behind car #48: an LMP2 Lola/Nissan owned/sponsored by Murphy Prototypes (the first Irish-owned car in Le Mans history). I think I'm required by law to create that car.

EDIT: Oh, I found the Ferraris you were referring to... I'll put it 3rd in line, but I suspect Beef can probably get to it before I can. I also don't have a 458 Challenge. ^_^

Actually... All you have to do is make the one for the 458 and the 458 Rissi Comp, and I can port it over to the challenge... It doesn't matter who makes it, I just LOVE that livery!

I wonder if I can gift you a Challenge... I will try tonight... If you picked up the VIP upgrade, you should be able to buy one... Not sure you can own it without VIP...

The #66 on Sunday page 12 with the caution tape is kick ass too... I missed that one... I'd like a copy of that one as well... I'll start working on S, R3 tunes for the 458 and 458C (already have them actually) and R3/2 tunes for the 458 racers!.... I'll match the rims in the pics....

I could try doing the 458 challenge on page 9 (I think) of monday. Its going to be tough to do the ferrari logo on top of the windshield. I think the 458 challenge is a vip car only...

If you build the livery on the 2011 Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione F458 Italia you could do the windshield, then just copy the livery over to the standard 458 and adjust! I can do the same with the one for the 458 Challenge if you send me the livery!

A pic of the Deltawing is the last photo in today's gallery. Its best lap during practice was 3:43 which puts it roughly equivalent to the lower-middle portion of the P2 class.

But... It's not about lap times... It's an endurance race.... They will be making half the stops (half the fuel, 2x time on tires, etc...).... We'll see... I'm rooting for them to do well!

same here, I'd actually like to see them win. on a side note, when did I get the power to edit everyone's posts?
