Low's Spec Miata Series Announcement and Discussion Thread Spec_i11 Ladies and Gentlemen (and Marm), We are getting closer to the launching of U2SC's Spec series. This is not a monthly series, this is a side series that will be run every other saturday around 9:30 for approximately 8-12 races. The races will be longer than our monthly ones as well. Some pieces are still being put together but it'll all come together soon. I'm trying to make this one both as FUN and COMPETITIVE as possible for everyone. Any questions feel free to ask. Now to the good stuff........

The car: Everyone will be running identical cars. This is a Drivers Cup. The only difference will be the paint jobs, rims, and tire pressure.

Mazda MX-5 Gen 3

Eninge and Power:

-Race Air Filter

-Race Ignition

-Sport Exhuast

-Sport Oil and Cooling

-All other engine parts stay stock

Platform and Handling:

-Street Brakes

-Sport Suspension

-Sport ARB's front and rear

-Race Roll Cage

-Sport weight reduction

Drivetrain:

-Race clutch

-Everything remains stock

Tires and Rims:

-Race Tires

-225/40R17 front tires

-225/40/R17 Rear tires

-List of eligible Rims: Rims MUST STAY 17'S!!!!!

-TSW Trackstar4

-All 3 Holeshot rims

-Dymag 9 spoke

-RS Watanabe Cyclone

-Buddy club PI Racing QF

-Weld Racing Magnum III

-Volk Racing RE30

-Konig Afterburner.

Aero and Appearance:

-Autoexe Street Rear Wing

If the car is built correctly, you should now have a B492 spec miata with 210 hp, 189 ft-lbs of torque, at 2,322 lbs.

The races will be ran with simulation damage ON. This requires everyone to take responsibility to avoid crashes, especially the first turn demo derby. Thats why the races will be longer, we want people to take their time and pass when its clear. It will also be splt into a pro division and novice division. The Rookies will requires a Bright Yellow "R" on the left side of their rear bumper. It is the Pro's job to get around him cleanly, not for the rookie to get out of his way.

Paint: Every participant will be given a base template with the series "sponsors" on it.It is the template you see in the picture up top. You are asked to have a race livery on your car. I don't care who it is, get creative. On the Number plate that you'll be given, put your country's flag in the upper right hand corner. It'll have the american flag when you get it.

Also, reply below if interested and I'll gift you the template. I do ask tho that after you get your car painted put up a picture back here in your original interest post. That way everyone can see what we got. Thanks Everyone.

Race #1- Mazda Laguna Seca

Race #2- Sedona Club Circuit

Race #3- Bernese Alps Stadtplatz Reverse

Race #4- Road America Full Circuit

Race #5- Tsukuba Circuit Full

Race #6- Hockenheimring National Circuit

Race #7- Le Mans Full Circuit

Race #8- Infineon Raceway IRL Circuit

Race #9- Maple Valley Full (you knew it was going to be in here)

Race #10- Twin Ring Motegi Full

Race #11- Silverstone Grand Prix

Race #12- Road Atlanta Full

Race #13- Mazda Laguna Seca (This is optional, I thought it might be neat to see how much you improved over the course of the series)

Pros:

Bigglou

Mark

Marm

Rookies:

Low 'n Slow

Don't know what class they want to be in:

HPI

Sounds great low! hopefully we get a good turnout for this! I'll be needing that template asap so i can get to work on some kind of design...That'll take forever, my creativity is lacking Razz.

I like the idea of having the bright yellow R and leaving it to the pros to pass...I feel like, since I dont run with a mic, people automatically think I'm getting mad if I'm behind them waiting for a chance to pass. I'm never mad, just patient! Smile

Will there be mandatory pit stops?

I would say "pitting" but I don't want to give beef any ideas.

Will there be any relegation going on?

Relegation is possible if someone is doing better or worse than first expected. However, the only way you will be relegated would be if you volunteer to drive the pace truck. Yes, I had to Google it. Razz

And yes, pit stops will be mandatory. With simulation damage and longer races, I may leave up to individuals to find their own strategy.

I have one issue with the configuration... Those that use Manual w/clutch have an acceleration advantage over those of us that do not. Since we are not using race transmission, this is much more of an advantage over a fully upgraded car.

Can we please force people to use either Automatic or Manual in the lobby settings for this series to remove this advantage?

You mean only manual? No clutch? I don't see why not, the few times I've actually ran manual I still find myself pounding the clutch button so I guess its no big deal. I'll make a poll and see what happens. Does anyone here still use automatic?

I think Low is using himself as the barometer. Therefore, you are a Pro.

That all being said, you're pretty close to me aren't you? Barring mental errors, we go wheel to wheel quite a bit no? Recent months maybe not. But I still say it's more car than me.

I got lucky tha the Stratos fell into my zone. Otherwise I would've been dealing with the Pinto. Not a bad car. Just couldn't come to grips with it. Although Joe showed the way.

I would like to run in this series. Full damage kinda scares me though, being a sub par driver.
