E3 kicks off today
So Microsoft kicks off the event today at 12:30 est. I'm hoping they give us some good news because the ps4 has been looking like a much better option at this point in time. Also heard "mad catz" is going to debut it's own console and there might be a android powered micro console called " project M.O.J.O." What are you guys hoping for?

Re: E3 kicks off today
It looks like Sony took a big step to put itself ahead of Microsoft. The PS4 appears to be cheaper, backward compatible, no need to be connected to the internet every day, AND NO USED GAME DRAMA! That last one is a big one for me.
Which makes me ask this question. Why, Microsoft? Since Sony isn't doing it, that clearly shows that the movement isn't publisher-lead, but rather created and enacted by Microsoft themselves. I understand Microsoft likes getting every penny they can from us ( which by the way they are doing away with Microsoft points and requiring all transactions to be straight money) but damn, learn when enough is enough.

Ah, isn't life in the Third World just glorious! South Africa (unsurprisingly) didn't make the list of launch countries. Takes the decision out of my hands and gives me time to see how things unfold. Which is all right, I suppose (although it did take more than a year for the 360 to arrive ...).
But it also means no FM5 LCE. Which is [better left untyped].

One more thing: PS4 will be $399 in the US this Holiday 2013
This combined with how awesome the new inFAMOUS trailer looked and a bunch of other crap about Xbox One may have just given PS4 the upper hand for me...

I'd offer to ship you one, but that might be a bad idea with valuable electronics (and I'm not sure how SA customs tends to run, I know some countries can be dicey with things like this). If it makes you feel any better, I'll be waiting a year or so myself before picking up either of the new systems. My next console is likely going to be a PS3, catch up on all the exclusives I've missed over the years and perhaps give GT 6 a try.
Sony's announcement was pretty simple but exactly what everyone wanted to hear. That makes me happy, but also a little tentative for some reason. It's probably just the pessimist in me, but when something appears clearly better just by saying "We're not like that other thing!", it makes me nervous. I'm sure MS is going to continue backtracking and softening their policies as well, so it will be pretty interesting to see how this actually turns out come the end of the year. Think it's pretty obvious that as of now, though, Sony has killed it.
The big question for me is going to be even if MS manages to completely scrap and rebuild their business model in a consumer-friendlier way, will I stop hating them for what they intended to do? Because they fully intended to bend us over and say "Yep, that's how it is now, deal with it." Fortunately enough people called them out, so MS had to put its pants back on and pretend to be our buddies again.

I'm leaning more and more towards a PlayStation as my 'next gen' console....

Also, please rescind my earlier comment about Ryse looking awesome. I mean it does LOOK great, but nobody likes quicktime "push this button now" gameplay. If they just would have made it a normal open world game... (sigh).
So far, Forza, Halo and COD are not nearly enough to make me want to buy an X1. On the other hand, next-gen versions of inFAMOUS, The Last of Us and maybe an upgraded Gran Turismo...

Yeah, that looks kind of great. (Edit: not kind of great, if they manage to pull that off it looks like about the best game ever). Just saw a gameplay trailer for The Last of Us as well: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Thanks, I appreciate the thought Even if I had faith in SA shipping/customs, which I don't, Xbox One is region-locked. There's just no winning ...joekorn wrote:I'd offer to ship you one, but that might be a bad idea with valuable electronics

Re: E3 kicks off today
I think the new features on FM5 may have just been the deciding factor for me. Looks like I won't be playing the new inFAMOUS game anytime soon (too bad, it was probably my favorite game series ever that didn't have to do with racing). Anybody know where I can pre-order?
