What gen miata are we going to use?
Low’s Spec Miata Series
So I've been throwing the idea around of starting a spec miata series on the side. I'm still putting ideas together for it but I just wanted to see if there's enough interest. The races will probably be every other Saturday so that it won't interfere with practice for the actual club series. The races will also be done in simulation mode. I'm undecided if any assists will be forced off. The cars will be required to have a race livery and each car will have a base paint sent to them that has sponsor on it (I know that sounds confusing but I'll explain better later ). I have the late gen model built to spec as well as the early gen built as well. I was leaning toward everyone running the late gen but I tinkered some lay night and got both models pretty damn even. I'll leave that up for voting if we want to run one model or both. Each race will require a pit stop and the length its still in the air. Any thoughts?
Oh and the cars do allow tuning to a certain point (I. E. , per spec you run upgraded brake pads not a race setup, but the suspension is a race package.)

Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
The base paint in talking about are just the small sponsors. The layout would be something like the up2speed customs decal on the front bumper, Hoosier and brembo and such on the bottoms of the sides, something else on the rear. You know what I mean? That pattern will be identical on every car. You then add your livery around it, whether your sponsor is mountain dew, Crayola, Jack Daniels, a1 steak sauce, etc. Does everyone understand what I'm saying?

Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
Yeah, I was thinking about if everyone had a similar livery and we had color differences or something around that type of thing.
This idea is good though. This will be a cool "side series" to do.

In! I've been waiting for your word about what you were gonna do with this. Running it as a club "side" series seems good.

yeah, this makes sense. so are you thinking something like a few mandatory decals like a U2SC logo on the front and rear bumpers and a tire sponsor on both sides? If that is the case, I can make a template and send it to you so that you can send it to all of the participants.
Just an extra idea, should we make this a teams of 2 type of thing? I think that could make this very interesting.

I'm toying with the decal setup, when I'm ready I'll let you know what I need. Thanks beef. I don't know about the team idea tho. I was actually planning on splitting the field into pro and rookie classes. Each class will receive prizes, it just gives everyone a chance to place good. Although I don't have a problem with one man being the driver, one being the tuner, and another being a painter. But nothings for certain yet, so its still a possibility.

what I meant by teams was 2 people drive a car with the same livery on it, not just one out of 3 people racing. Anyway, its your call

Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
We had fun testing this yesterday, I think we should all run the gen 1 miata u came up with, and then have a split class of spec neons available.

Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
Yeah The gen 2 seems a tad overpowered compared to the gen 1. I thought they were pretty equal but I guess i wasn't being pushed hard enough when I was testing them by myself!

Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
I think it's best to use either one or the other... OR.... do a multiclass event... Gen 1 as B and Gen 3 as A or something like that... We haven't done a true multiclass series yet... It might be fun!
Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
Ya, that's why I had the spec miata/spec neon in class. The neon is hella slower, and a small track with a lot of laps means passing and traffic, a lot of fun.

Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
I like Lou's idea of multi-class... Gen 1 - B Class | Gen 3 - A Class
Or... Gen 1 - C Class | Gen 3 - B Class
Or... Gen 1 - C Class | Gen 3 - B Class

Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
After research and debating we are going to run just one miata. I will be putting up polls the next few days so keep an eye out.

I just need Lou to be in the race! When we raced Road Atlanta, Lou and I were trying to outrun and keep up with each other

There will probably be a lot of battles considering we are all driving the same car :p it's going to be very close. Can we do it like a 20 lap race, so people won't bumping there way around each other, and have chances for clean passing, waiting for straights and what not, taking corners a little more cautiously. Just curious?

Re: Low’s Spec Miata Series
my plan is that this series we run one car so when we start running multi class , you will know what class you need to be in.
