I am so sorry to hear about your house Mark! I am glad you are all OK, but I can relate to the flooding.

Back in May of 2010, NAshville was hit with a Millennium Flood, and my basement/garage was flooded for a week. It's a finished basement and the HVAC and water heater are down there as well. Thankfully it's a daylight basement, but I still had to tear out the walls up to 4 ft, all of the carpet, toss the furniture and I also lost the computer. Unfortunately, we don't have flood insurance, so it was all out of pocket.

Please let us know if you need anything!

Where's the delineation between the burroughs?

I mean, Lou says "Queen's got hit bad." That's next to Brooklyn ain't it? If Queens got hit, wouldn't it stand to reason that Brooklyn would as well?

I understand that Joisey would be the Hudson. Just asking. The only place still standing is da BRONX.

As for snow, I can hardly wait for the morons again. Nothing like extending a commute cuz moron thinks he can still go full throttle with the snow, spin out, and if lucky, just hits the guardrail thereby not damaging anybody else.

When it comes to school closings, I remember my area never closed. It was their policy that they would never close the school. Buses get cancelled all the time, but schools never. And the thought behind it is that somebody's gotta watch the kids if the parents can't.

My sister-in-law's district also cancelled school today due to storm related power outages and she's in... Michigan! I didn't realize it reached that far inland so quickly and powerfully.

I know the borders, but given the size of Sandy, hearing that Queens got hit, where in the 5 burroughs did you think was "safe"?

I'm sorry to hear about your house mark, but I'm glad to see you are ok.

Today is the second day in a row that the power went out at my house and I'm halfway across the continent.... not sure why because its not terribly windy and there hasn't been any storms here....

I'm praying for everyone that has been affected by the storm and hoping that you find calm in the chaos of the aftermath.

Thanks guys! I'm more worried for my school than my house Razz

I have not gotten to the end of this thread yet. Hope you are alright. I was wondering about the house we used to live in when we lived in Connecticut. I found out in this video Beach house in East Haven. It's the house on the right in the opening shot next to the destroyed house you see when the camera pans to the left. At high tide the water comes up to the piling. The house used to have a lower deck.

Does she live on the East or West shore of Michigan? I heard the lake was affected somehow. Here in the SW part of Michigan it's been OK. I'm guessing East Shore 'cus when the lake gets rough on the Western shore alarms go off on my weather radio.

Glad to hear everyone is OK . And seriously, Mark (or anyone) if you need anything just let us know. Without a doubt we all have extra things around that would be much better served in the hands of someone in need. Speaking of which, I've got just under a dozen boxes of clothes, toys, etc. my boys have grown out of that I would be oh so happy to get out of the garage. And now that I think of it, I also have an extra headset/mic... Very Happy

She's in Rochester. So yes, eastern Michigan.

I heard from my Aunt, who has a beach house in Ocean Grove, NJ. their house is fine... My Cousin in Chester, NJ was still without power as of yesterday, and my buddy on Long Island doesn't have power, heat, gas or water... Very bad..

I'm glad everyone is safe though...

Mark... what's the news on your home?
