FM5 - Thanksgiving Rival Event Challenge!

Greetings!

Forza 5 has been out for, what, 3 days now?  Let's have an event!  Yeah!

Since it's the holiday and people are still waiting to pick up their Xbones I'm thinking an event through the Rivals system makes the most sense.

With this event I'd like to specifically invite friends of club members.  Folks who are new to the game or haven't ever done the "club thing" before.  Of course this has less meaning now that FM5 gutted the cool car club features but hey, we can still be our own little community with IDEAS and EVENTS.

So here we go.

SUMMARY

WHAT: A-Class Time Attack Rival Challenge
WHERE:  Prague Full
WHY: I'm putting $20 down to be shared as Xbox Credit for the top 3 winners ($10/$5/$5) OR as a single jackpot for the person that crushes the whole club the most.
WHO: Only non-club members who are IRL friends of club members can win the cash.
WHEN: Monday, 11/25 through Sunday, 12/8
HOW: Beat nubrocket's time in the challenge.  Beat every participating member of U2SC and you win the full $20.  In the event more than one person beats away U2SC, the person with the best time will take the pot.

DETAILS

1. Be sure you're following nubrocket on XBox Live.  This will allow you to see my posted time on the leaderboard.
   
2. To see other U2SC members, also follow FraidKn0t, menes reus, and beefsupreme42.

4. Pick a car that is or can be upgraded to A700.  Personally I am using, and I highly recommend, the KTM X-Bow R.  It is cheap and probably the most fun vehicle I've ever driven in a Forza title.  There are many cars to choose from though, and you can look at the global leaderboard for ideas of what people have chosen.  If you have questions about which cars to choose or how to upgrade them, ask in this thread and one of us will be happy to help you.
   
5. Hotlap your booty off and try to beat my time.  I'll be trying to improve mine at the same time but I'll stop before midnight on 12/6.
   
6. On the morning of 12/9, the top 3 times that have beaten me will get the prize.  Anyone who beat ALL of U2SC will get the full jackpot, unless multiple folks have in which case the person with the best time will take it all.
   

I'm thinking about using the McLaren MP4-12C that I just bought for this, but I may change it later. I can't wait to see how everybody does

Turn 10 just gifted me an Audi A6 and a small ford focus, so I will tune the Audi up and see what happens.

I have 1350 coins and just over 1M forza dollars, I keep changing my mind over what to buy next. I am waiting for a car to " speak" to me.

There are a lot of amazing cars in this game that I really want to try out and the KTM is right around the top of that list along with the Ariel Atom and the Lotus E21

Finally, I'm back. The Rival Challenge is a great idea and I'm still fast on one lap.  

I'm still a bit sad about the gone car clubs but the game is so awesome.

How many of you do I need to add?

I think I set a 1:59.XXX last night. At the time I was number 61 on the leaderboards if I remember correctly

I will try to set a better time today after I buy a lot of cars on turn 10's black Friday sale.

Yeah I'm making a killing on the Black Friday sale.  Got my "Benchmarking the P1" achievement, which in retrospect may have worked with a rented P1 anyway since it's kind of buggy.  It's OK though, I wanted that car anyway (shutup beef).

I also got my CTS-V, a Lambo, and a small pile of other metal friends.

The X-Bow was absolutely amazing - I threw the tune together in just 5 minutes and I was able to set a top-100 time with it. I actually think I am still in the top 100 with that one.

Excellent!  I've gone ape shtako with the sale, too.  I've been putting my tokens into XP boosts and using the level-up bonus CR to farm my cars.  I was tier 5 so I got 5M in rewards which admittedly couldn't have come at a better time.

I'm planning on getting the Ferrari 250 GTO when we get our free apology car.  For now I think I have most of my bases covered for class and era.  

I really really like that it's hard to afford cars.  I like looking at your 430 Scuderia and thinking "damn it, I really wanted that but I chose something else.  Someday I'll have it.  Someday".

I'm planning on getting that too only because I want to eventually have every car in the game and I don't want to pay for it. Unluckily for me, FM.net is not letting me redeem my rewards yet (every time I press "redeem rewards", it doesn't do anything), so I can't get many more cars before the sale is over...

Lame!  Keep trying!

It was doing the same thing to me for a while too, but I just switched to a different internet browser (safari instead of chrome) and it worked!

I would try the same thing, but all I have is Chrome and Internet Explorer. It isn't working on chrome for me and I am too impatient to wait for Internet Explorer to load my homepage because it takes so long on my computer

It actually wasn't letting me redeem in any browsers a second ago when I went to collect my $4m but I just kept trying and when I right clicked the "redeem" button and opened the link in a new tab it worked. The new website is screwy, but keep at it... you got a few more hrs of 1/2 price cars! I'm binge-buying as we speak

If you get this soon, Beef, you can temporarily change your XBL password and send it to me.  I can try from here on my rigs.  I've got a few devices I can try clicking the button on for you.

Thanks for the offer nub, but I think I will pass - the sale is probably just about over and I have already saved a good 2 - 2.5 million CR on this sale. I will just try again tomorrow and see if it works then.

still looking at the 62 GTO, 458 Italia, F50. I received my reward money but the sale is over and I have lots of new rides. What is with the Mclaren P1. Why do we have to say shut up beef every time we type it.

He was tier 5 at launch so he got it for free.  Despite all my efforts I was just shy of tier 5.  Therefore I am jealous and need to proactively tell him to shutup everytime I mention it.

Finally went and posted a decent time on this (my original time was from a career race where I was beef'ing around on the "AI" cars)

I slapped a tune on the ol' Ferrari 458 and ran a 2:04.9 on the 3rd lap but I don't think I'll even get near Beef's 1:59 mark

If I continue to see any participation from my FB buddies I'll tune up by X-bow and see if I can catch you guys.  I...seriously doubt it, but the exercise would be good for me.

fraidknot, is your Ferrari 458 tune shared so anyone can use it. I will try it out when I get the car.
