Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
NOTE: Slave Munky Tuning Calc project is on hold until further notice. I suspect there will be one final release with Porsche but don't hold your breath. As it stands 4.5 is the final version! I've tried adding the May DLC cars to the car list, but I do not get any results other than transmission and alignment... What does this mean? Moving forward, tunes for DLC's and expansions past May will take much longer to produce. It's not impossible, but it will take longer...
I figured We needed a Question thread dedicated to Slave Munky's FM4 Tuning Calculator Spreadsheet.
As of 4/6/2012
Current Version: 4.5.04.12 (Released on 4/16/12)
Previous Version: 4.4.xx (click here to download from my Google docs) ... (this is the Excel 2007-2011 version .xlxs)
FM4 Forum Link: http://forums.forzamotorsport.net/forums/1/4859908/ShowThread.aspx
Training Videos:
There is also a host of links in the Official Slave Munky FM4 Forum Thread. Check them out. I would post and host all of them, but they are updated constantly. Best thing to do is to save them to something like Google Docs (awesome tool BTW) or DropBox (awesome as well)...

Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
Thanks Lou...grabbed it.
Question...in the tire section, what is 'Aspect Ratio'? It's a user defined field, but not sure what it's asking me

It's the number in bold below.... You can find the front and rear sizes by going to "My Cars" and hitting "X" to bring up the car details list. Just hold the Right bumper down. The Tires are the last two in the row.
225/50R16
[section width] / [sidewall aspect ratio] R [rim diameter]

From TireRack.com
The Tire Rack wrote:Sidewall Aspect Ratio
Typically following the three digits identifying the tire's Section Width in millimeters is a two-digit number that identifies the tire's profile or aspect ratio.
P225/50R16 91S
The 50 indicates that this tire size's sidewall height (from rim to tread) is 50% of its section width. The measurement is the tire's section height, and also referred to as the tire's series, profile or aspect ratio. The higher the number, the taller the sidewall; the lower the number, the lower the sidewall. We know that this tire size's section width is 225mm and that its section height is 50% of 225mm. By converting the 225mm to inches (225 / 25.4 = 8.86") and multiplying it by 50% (.50) we confirm that this tire size results in a tire section height of 4.43". If this tire were a P225/70R16 size, our calculation would confirm that the size would result in a section height of 6.20", approximately a 1.8-inch taller sidewall.

Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
Has anybody gotten the latest version?
I don't know if it was just luck, but the one I got seems to be mostly blank. Or my vid card has crapped out on me.

Also... The 4.6 version has not been released for May yet. I suspect SM will be waiting for the Porsche pack to release 4.6....
Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
I've always been looking for a good tuning calculator and this one works pretty good. I use it on most of my cars and then try to mess around with it a little bit from there

The one thing I will say is that the spring rates are VERY stiff.... I use SMTC for the base tune, then I use Xtreme Skills for the Springs. After that, I fine tune by feel using the principles VVV Worm laid out in his FM4 forum guide. Each car is different. Even cars you'd think are very similar end up being different.
Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
Yea I did notice that. I already downloaded that calculator and I am going to try that tonight compared with what I've already done. I've used it before on a couple cars and it works very well.

Funny, I never notice whether the springs are hard or soft. Typically, I stiffen 'em up a little more. I haven't tried it without. Just input what SM spits out. And I'm good to go. I guess I could fine tune it, but the foundation it provides is solid enough for me.

Try a little fine tuning... A lot of times, the SMTC will not only have springs that are way too stiff, but ARB's that are too stiff as well... Most of my fine tuning is with Springs (using Xtreme Skills), ARB, Aero and then to Camber to get a little more turn in and tire temp spread.... I believe Mark ran my Daytona Coupe tune last night (possibly a bit tweaked for him). Grab the Xtreme Skills calc I put together. It's VERY easy to use, and you have all the data you need from SMTC and the tuning section in FM4. I find using the 1.6x through 2.2x multipliers to be the best, and I start with 1.6x and work up or down depending on whether or not the suspension bottoms out a lot (you won't be able to remove all bottom-outs).
I know your real life is a bit hectic ATM, but grab me and we can do a private chat if you are interested. I'd even be happy to do a Tuning "Class" some night.... And just so everyone knows, Frank is my Mentor. He is the master.
Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
FYI... It looks like 4.5 is the LAST version of the calc... At least by Slave Munky... Hopefully someone picks up the torch. I may actually try adding cars to the car list and see what happens... I just need to find all of the data points...

That sucks, cuz those Porsche are going to need some heavy tuning to tame them to get the power down.

If I can track down all of the data points needed for each car, I should be able to update the sheet.... I will start working on it with the May DLC cars...
Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
Good news so far... I am able to add cars to the list, but I need to find all of the data points... Anyone want to help?
I need data not available in the game. Here is what I need for each car in the May Top Gear Pack (minus the Pacer which I was able to track down):
I can fill in the rest of the data points from the game.... Anyone willing to help? I can dig them all up, but it will be faster if I can get some of you to helps and divide the list with.
Here is the May DLC car list: http://www.myforza.net/f4/carlist.php?dlc=14
If this works, we'll be able to tune new DLC cars with the existing version... Like the Porsche one coming in the next few weeks...

Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
OK... So I've had a little time here and there this afternoon, and I found several great resources online..
I've got them all done except the Transit SuperSport Van (SSV).... It's the RWD model short wheel base low roof.... What I cannot find is any information on the F/R track width or brake diameters.... I've got placeholder data in now, but to get a proper tune, we'll need the real specs, especially for the F/R track width!
Any of you UK guys have any resources?

Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
So.... I tried tuning one of the newer cars and I did not get any ARB, spring, rebound or bump data... I did get transmission and alignment data though. I'll post a copy of the spread sheet tonight. I recommend using the Xtreme Skills calc I put together as well as one of the iPhone or Android tuning apps for the the newer cars...
There must be some hidden data somewhere in the file. I cannot unlock the sheets to see all of the locked/hidden data. I'm thinking he will be working on a final release once the Porsche expansion is out. He is still playing FM4 (looking at his recent games list) so there is still hope...
Sorry guys...

Re: Slave Munky's FM4 TC Thread
A real quick glance at fm4 forums and it appears that microsoft and turn 10 locked down the tc thread. Evidently slave monkey was starting to charge people and they said it's against the TOS. So if you dont have it know I guess you're out of luck.
