Re: Low's Spec Miata Series Announcement and Discussion Thread
I won't be able to make this Saturday's race due to another hockey game I can't miss. I'm loving this series and I hate to miss a race, but hockey.
In seasons past I could "bank" tickets to a game so I could trade one game for another. I did this to make it to the first miata race but during that call I was informed that I'm not able to do that this year since I bought a smaller ticket package (12 games instead of 24). She let me do it that one time, but that's it. From here on out I am locked in.

I may miss it as well... Sunday is my wife's b-day, and we may be celebrating Saturday night....
Re: Low's Spec Miata Series Announcement and Discussion Thread
Given all these cancellations, how 'bout we postpone this weekend's race? Seems only fitting. No Low, Nub, Beef's running late, Lou, who else?

Can we do the race later? Say 10:30-11:30pm Eastern? That might open it up for me since everyone is in bed or asleep in my house by then!

That's four of our regulars right there. It's definitely more fun with more people. I can't really do later but don't let that stop you if it sounds like there will be a decent sized lobby at that time.

No... I don't want to reschedule it to a time that would put others out... With next weekend being Thanksgiving, we might just need to keep it setup at 9:00 eastern... How late could you go Xray? could you do 10pm Eastern? That would at least get Beef in... I dunno about Nub, but I might have a slim chance at that time (that's 9pm for me...)
Re: Low's Spec Miata Series Announcement and Discussion Thread
It doesn't matter to me. It's all the same.
The lobby's have been dwindling in numbers lately. With the influx of new games, it's expected. But last week we had 8 or so right? Drop 4 this week and we're not gonna have much of a lobby.
I'd imagine Nub's not gonna make it until after 11. Assuming traffic ain't bad leaving the game. Actually, if they're playing the Marlies it should be a quick game. From what I've read, the Marlies ain't doin' so well this year.

Traffic shouldn't be bad, but it's a good 3-4 hours starting at 7pm Central. Even if the race did move to a time when I was home, I'd still have to pass. Disappearing for 4 hours and then shutting the wife out of the office for another hour wouldn't fly too well.
As for the Marlies...they already came and went. Shut us out! Well played by them, not so much by us.

I've been getting flak for this. Apparently all I do is play xbox. I could swing 10:00 EST but would be pushing my luck racing past 11:00.

Xray.... That accusation sounds vaguely familiar! What I like to do is designate 2 or 3 nights a week that are reserved for gaming... The other 4-5 are open.. I do play on the open nights, but Dana knows Wed and Friday are my racing nights, and I usually leave another night for "other" games...

I'm all for this. It seems like we will be able to get more people in the race if we postpone it a little while.BiggLou55 wrote:Can we do the race later? Say 10:30-11:30pm Eastern? That might open it up for me since everyone is in bed or asleep in my house by then!

This is exactly what I do... Usually its wednesday and friday night along with saturday for me. I still manage to get yelled at quite a bit for playing past 3:00 a.m. on most fridays and saturdays, though...BiggLou55 wrote:Xray.... That accusation sounds vaguely familiar! Has there been a consensus as to when/if this is taking place this week/tonight?

Sorry to break it to you, but this does not change as you get older. Once you are married the penalties get quite a bit steeper.
Low - if you happen to see this before tonight's race (assuming it is tonight), could you please send me the livery? It's still tough for me to make it at 9:30, but with the time change and the boys somewhat settling down now I may have a chance.
Either way, I do plan on running the series makeup race tonight. Have a bad feeling the wife is going to want to watch a movie or some such, but I will be there if at all possible.

Re: Low's Spec Miata Series Announcement and Discussion Thread
Joe: In case Low can't get it to you, I'll send you what I have. It's not QUITE the same as what Low put together (he never sent it to me, either) but it should serve as I think I made a pretty good facsimile.
One note about mine: it's designed so that the number box is reflective, so that if you want to change the overall color of the car you need to change the color of the base vinyl, NOT the car's "paint" (except the Wing, which must be painted to match the desired color).

Lou or Marm has the base paint if you need it. I thought I had sent it to you guys. Sorry. I can't get it to you because I don't get home until 6 in the morning.
Oh and the whole wife wanting to watch a movie deal, a new study came out that said hanging out on the couch with your spouse watching TV results in a 17% chance of getting some. Some quick math shows that doing that 5 or 6 times a week should net you at least one night of fun a week. You are welcome.

Tonight's results:
Race report:
Beef had pole, I took second. Followed him around. He went to pit and slowed down on the racing line. Me not expecting him to slow down so drastically plowed into him.
I was pooched. As was Jason, Bob and Lou. Apologies to Jason. I can't remember if I moved before you hit me. Most likely I did.
Kudos to Wolfman for coming in 2nd.

OK. From now on, no pitting early. The first couple laps are always tense and everyone is close together and the cars are still twitchy from cold tires. Last thing anyone expects is some one to pit on the very first lap, which means no one is prepared for an out of the blue brake check. When I said you can pit on your own decision I didn't think we would have people doing this. Sorry guys, next race will be pit mid race.

Re: Low's Spec Miata Series Announcement and Discussion Thread
In hindsight, it was my fault as it's the driver in the back that's responsible for their actions.
Personally, I will take full blame for this week. I will take last place as penance for my actions. I still have Horizon habits.
Apologies to all members for my actions.
When I was chasing lou, I was close to him for a couple of laps. When he gave me spacd to pass him on the inside, I wasn't close enough to actually pass. Lou kissed the wall and I sawhim bounce out. Immediately I slammed my brakes. I screwed up once. Didn't want to hit another driver.
Once again, apologies to everybody for my piss poor driving. I will endeavor to improve.

I think the pit location on this track was just in a bad spot. You really had to slow down on that last corner to get in there and anyone coming behind wouldn't be able to tell there was a decelerating vehicle ahead. In beef's defense, he did call that he was going to pit after the first lap.

Re: Low's Spec Miata Series Announcement and Discussion Thread
Just to be argumentative, he also said at the start of the race that he would drive by to see where the pit entrance is and then pit the next lap.
I was driving based on that, I didn't anticipate him going into the pits before completing lap 1.
Oh well. Just hang back and let Beef drive away is the racing theory from now on.

Its not entirely your fault... I should have announced what I was doing instead of just slowing down about 20 mph slower than the normal speed...marmuttlebow wrote:
