I initially wanted to do this with 3 man teams but given the lobby limitation of 8 players, I modified it for 4 2-man teams. I see this as something we can do once we've all had some time to play through the campaign, learn the territory, unlock outposts, and acquire some cars.

HORIZON RELAY RACE!

4 Teams of 2.

  • Team A (drivers A1 & A2)
  • Team B (drivers B1 & B2)
  • Team C (drivers C1 & C2)
  • Team D (drivers D1 & D2)


4 Available car classes. Each must be used once, but only once.

  • C Class
  • A Class
  • S Class
  • R1 Class


4 Designated Horizon Outposts Where Drivers Switch.

Active Driver must bump their teammate before the next Driver can proceed to the next outpost. Until the bump takes place the waiting Driver cannot move from the spot they've chosen to wait.

Once the bump is successful, the second Driver sets off for the next checkpoint. Meanwhile the first driver uses the outpost to select another car and fast-travels to the next Outpost and wait for their teammate to arrive.

The route the drivers take between each outpost is up to the team, as is the order in which they use the available car classes.

Car class is the only restriction.

  1. Drivers A1, B1, C1, and D1 race from the designated starting location to outpost H1.
  2. Drivers A2, B2, C2, and D2 have already chosen their car for the next leg and are waiting at H1
  3. A1, B1, C1, and D1 arrive at H1 and bump into their teammate.
  4. A2, B2, C2, and D2 proceed racing to H2
  5. A1, B1, C1, D1 use the H1 outpost to select their next car and fast travel to H2
  6. So on and so forth


The winning team is the first to have a driver arrive at H4.

Honor system applies for not repeating car classes or using fast travel when you are the active driver. Crashing into enemy drivers is awesome and encouraged.

That would be a ton of fun. We would probably have to use a bracket system depending on how many people participate. Eight at a time kinda limits things.

One thing we need to do is figure out how to record the results... As the official score-keeper in FM4, I'm pretty well versed in what is needed to track results...

Let's do some testing over the next week or so on different lobby race types... I would like to see how the P2P, Circuit and Street-Races can be configured and run. we could also figure out how to run races in Free-roam... We have 7 race, where one sets the finish point and stays there to record the results... This means we could run races clear across the map and you could take any route you wish! Very Happy

How does Driver #1 beat Driver #2 to the next checkpoint?

*asks since he's still waiting for his copy of Horizon and isn't aware if there's a "warp" ability.

There is a "fast travel" feature that lets you jump either to the main festival or to an outpost you have gotten to before. You simply select it on the map and press X, I think. Worth noting that although going to the main festival is free, jumping to an outpost cost something like 10k credits. It'd be awhile before people were ready to do this, I think.

Or you make the "rally" that they have to go a somewhat "long" way and give the other team member a shortcut. Assuming they can drive said shortcut. Wouldn't that be funny.

...... x minutes later

I dunno... We saw what happened when Case tried to get us to play Red Rover that one night... Add a little bit of alcohol in and it's a lost cause!
