Does anyone listen to music while racing?
Hey y'all,
I just joined the club, thanks to the awesome suggestion from nubrocket, and wanted to post something.
So, Horizon is my first Forza game, and so far I'm really loving it. I'm switching over from Gran Turismo 3 and 4. Nope, never played 5, because I refuse to get a PS3, mostly due the terrible things I've heard about their update process. Also, their online social stuff really can't match Xbox Live.
So as my first post, I just wanted to know if anyone else has completely turned off their in-car radio. I kind of enjoyed it for maybe the first 30 minutes to an hour, but it had to go. I just can't concentrate on racing with music on. I also think it's less enjoyable because you don't get to hear the engine sounds and road noise.
(Also, as someone who grew up in Colorado, this game is incredible.)
Thanks!
T-Pod

Re: Does anyone listen to music while racing?
T-Pod! Great to see yah!
So far I am keeping the music on. Only Cut Copy makes my skin crawl (I can't handle the dude's voice). I really wish you could switch tracks in addition to stations, but that's a minor gripe. I imagine that in a few more hours I'll have it turned off too, though...especially after trying that Saleen Raptor last night. I had to turn the music off for that car, its "song" was just too amazing.
FM4 is different, though. I have to hear the engine the entire time.

I really wish they had a classical station. Maybe there is one and I just haven't found it yet. Probably not. Warning new club buddies: I will be the James May of this club. I spent at least an hour driving around at the speed limit in the 1965 Mini Cooper in the in-cab view. It was incredible.

Welcome Aboard Captain Slow! (Glad to see another Top Gear fan in our midst)....
As far as music goes, I'm sure I will grow tired of the in-game FH music, but I usually drive to high energy stuff anyway... Techno & Rock (Alt/Metal/Hard) mostly, so the in-game stations are pretty good (except the pop crap)...

I would refer T-Pod to the previous thread. However, I have no idea where it is.
As for me, I tried playing my own music in FM4. I couldn't do it. That just threw me off.
Hopefully the game arrives today. And then I will be able to answer your question fully. If anything, perhaps in this game I will be playing my own music.

I enjoyed the rock station the first day but ended up turning it off last night. I guess it will depend on my mood. I really like the songs by The Black Keys, The Hives, Yuck, and Silversun Pickups. The rest ranges from meh to bleh. I too wish you could skip tracks or create a playlist.
Welcome aboard, T-Pod! Looking forward to racing with you.

I listen to that Bass Arena station because that type of music (dubstep and all that crap) gets me pumped and I just drive maniacally. If anyone wants to I will definitely host another free roam lobby tonight.
And welcome T-pod! Doesn't matter what skill level you are. We are all here to have fun.

I won't be on until around 11pm Eastern, so please host away... Run some other race types too... I'm really wanting to see what the Circuit P2P races are like... If they are good, we should be able to do some FH race events or even series races as long as we don't step on the FM4 series races!
Re: Does anyone listen to music while racing?
Welcome T-pod! I consider myself more of a Jeremy Clarkson type so you'll probably see me on the side of the road with a broken down car. Or on fire.

Re: Does anyone listen to music while racing?
I fancy myself as a hybrid of all three... Probably more Hammond/May than Clarkson though....
Re: Does anyone listen to music while racing?
I forget where that thread is about listening to the songs on your ipod through your xbox. I really want to do this because I am sick of listening to that voice crack song on the rock station. by the way, it isn't really what I would consider rock.

Re: Does anyone listen to music while racing?
Thanks for all of the awesome welcomes!
Anyone else notice that every time you go to Dak's garage he's listening to the one Santigold song? I mean . . . every freaking time.
This one - Oops, just figured out that I can't post external links for a week. That makes sense. Anyway, go to youtube and search for this "Santigold - Disparate Youth [Official Music Video]"
I just imagine that instead of him fixing up all of my stolen barn cars for free, he's sitting in his garage listening to that song over and over and over while he looks up pictures of her in the internet and tries to find her address.
How does Dak afford to fix up those barn finds? Why would he just give them to me? He's a weird dude. I think we'd better keep an eye on him. He's probably Racer X.

LOL!
That's one of my favorite tracks in the game. I saw her at ACL 2 years ago and she was by far my favorite performance. She was fun, her fans were happy & relaxed people instead of crowding turbo-pricks, and the show itself was great.
My favorite song of hers.
She had those dancers with her for the entire show. They were a riot. Maybe I should find her address...

Re: Does anyone listen to music while racing?
Haha!
That is awesome because I had a pretty terrible time at ACL in 2008. Gillain Welch was good, and Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings were great. Oh, and Band of Horses was really good. But the crowds were mostly pushy jerks.
I need to listen to her earlier album. I bought the new one because I saw her perform on The Colbert Report. I just saw one song, and I was like, yeah that whole album is probably incredible. And it is.

I'll have to pay attention next time I head to Dak's. I only know Santigold from a song on the last Beastie Boys album.
