December Series Poll Empty December Series Poll

Post by BiggLou55 Thu Oct 25, 2012 5:13 pm

So we are nearing the end of October and we have Case's spec Mini race on deck for November (which will prove to be interesting from my limited testing). To make things easier since we have two games out there right now, we'll be doing another spec series. But... This series will be a true Multi-class series (multi-class race type in the lobby)... This will work just like Low's Spec Miata set-up. The only adjustments will be to tire pressure. The difference here is that we will be running with default damage (cosmetic), but there will be a required pit-stop. Pitting adds a pretty cool dynamic to the races. I'm also up for suggestions on tire type. Do we run race or drag? And I'm also open to chenging damage to limited combined with drag tires to bring tire wear into play....

Please take some time and test out the proposed tunes. They are all on my SF (free), and have proven to be quite fun! Storefront Search: "BiggLou55" or "U2SC December"...

December Series Poll Empty Re: December Series Poll

Why not allow adjustments other than tire pressure?

That's a really good question. My idea behind this series is picking cars that a weekend or SCCA club racer would choose and race for fun. There are very specific rule that govern SCCA races, and most of the classes consist of cars modified with non-adjustable parts. While some of the parts in the specifications (to be finalized later BTW) are race parts, they are not adjustable (mostly engine parts). I'd rather run this without pit-stops and with cosmetic damage, since most of the SCCA Club races don't really have pitting. The races are structured so that you should complete the race on 1 set of tires and 1 tank of fuel.

I encourage everyone to test out the tunes... These are not full race set-ups, so you might want to give the Vette a go... It's actually my favorite of the S-Class cars.... I'm partial to the 370 in A-Class with the Stang a close second...

Honestly... The Grand Sport and ZR1 are NIGHT and DAY different... You'll probably be pleasantly surprised with how nice the Vette is to drive in this configuration!

As far as Indy goes, I really dislike that track... A Lot!!!

I agree, the GS is a great car. I had the same reaction when I saw it on the list....."Crap, not that thing!" But after some testing I was pleasantly surprised. I'm leaning towards vette and stang multi class, but like Lou the 370 is also a favorite. I will drive them both more this weekend and then place my vote Cool

OK... So... Since we are starting the November series this week, I'm locking down this poll... Looks like we'll be doing the 2-seater multiclass spec race in December...

Corvette GS (s-class) and 370Z (a-class).... I will post the race details in a week or two...

Cheers!

I've unshared all but the GS and the 370 in the club garage... The tunes are on my Storefront (free) as well... I'll be putting together the parts list and series details this week...

The Vette just sounds MEAN, and that may be the deciding factor for my choice of class.... But.... The 370 drives like it's on rails! The racing will actually be pretty close between the classes, which is my intent with this series... Very Happy

So does this mean one can choose "whichever Mark isn't racing in"?

Well, I'm indifferent towards the car. Therefore, I will ask to be placed to fill the field.
