What should we set the December Series Damage to?
Damage Setting for the December Series
Low's Spec Miata series is using Simulated Damage (so did the Civic Spec series in April), and we've run a few races with Limited Damage... What are your thoughts on what we should do for the December Multiclass Spec series?
Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
Full sim. Makes things that much more interesting and Beef is less inclined to use other cars to brake and turn.

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
I do not like simulated damage. There was one race in that Civic series and then the other night with the Miatas where my cars were crippled through no fault of my own. I don't find it interesting or fun to be taken out of a race, even when it's not intentional. At least with cosmetic damage you have a chance to fight your way back into the thick of things.

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
I could skip out on the December races and be a "tow truck" for the people that crash and cant make it to the pits if we do full sim. Just like in real racing I can call a yellow flag and the leader of the pack will slow down to 60 mph followed by everyone else until I get the damaged car fixed up and caught up to the last place position. It would work, but as always its a group decision and just an idea. That means a lap or two could be a slow one, but whatever makes it more fair is the best way in my opinion. Its the last series for 2012 we might as well go all out eh?

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
Will we be following NASCAR rules such that the pit lane will be closed while under yellow?
I'm all for it. We could pass the Pace Truck around. I'd be willing to do it as well if you'd like to race Case.

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
Good idea Case, that would be pretty fun and another chance to try something new.
I voted for Simulation damage, but I also agree that getting hammered in turn one makes for 29 minutes of fairly boring racing. I would love to see us run two races each series night, around 15 minutes each. Keeps it more interesting, provides chances for more people to place well, and would make it much easier for me to join in knowing I'm not risking blowing 40 minutes if I have to jump up and take one of the kiddos to the bathroom. But this is coming from someone with a fairly short attention span, so take it for what it's worth.
And I would happily volunteer for safety crew duties as well.

What if we did two heats? Heat 1 you run S-class... Heat 2 you run A class (or vice versa)... The standings for the week are based on lowest TOTAL time... Whoever drives the truck for a heat get's +5 bonus points for the week...
Thoughts?

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
Given our new scoring method of dropping your worst score, I don't think you need to award bonus points for being part of the pit crew. That being said, if said driver were to then miss a race then you can give 'em 5 points.

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
.... dropping the worst score...
ummmmm.... I haven't been doing that...
OK... So no bonus points for driving the pit truck...
On another note... I will be eliminating the lowest score for October... I just need to figure out the XLS formula....
Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
LOL, ok, then 5 points it is.
Doesn't matter to me. As is aleays the case, it's just the opportunity to race with friends that really matters here. Whether taunting beef or trying to drive through the jokes, it's all good.
Standings don't mean much to me.
How 'bout =(sum(a1:a4)-min(a1:a4)
Or something to that effect.

And to adress the issue of heats, sure?
I'd suggest you split the lobby such that we still have a multiclass race. Otherwise, it's all good here.

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
LOL... thanks Marm.... That formula looks right... LOL... I will apply that to the October series this weekend....
I don't care much about where I land in the standings other than marking my own improvement (like claiming the fastest lap time in the Miata race this past weekend!)... I just want to get in the lobby and have a good time. That's what gaming is all about right?

That's the idea... It will also keep the series balanced and the grid even!
Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
I am only opposed to this because I can't use a mid engined car...marmuttlebow wrote:Full sim. Makes things that much more interesting and Beef is less inclined to use other cars to brake and turn.

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
I love this idea. the first race could be all A class and the second could be all S class. there could be a qualifier for the first race, but your position in the second race could be determined by where you finish in the first race.BiggLou55 wrote:What if we did two heats? Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
To Joe, yeah the pit would be closed unless it is an emergency.
Also thats a great idea switching around the truck on different days. I know there may be some Wednesdays when I wont be home in time. So whoever knows they will run on Fridays could do it on Wednesdays and so on.
I do like the idea of running two heats with both classes because then we can all run both cars. I cant choose between the two of them.
I dont think the Pace truck driver should get bonus points only because not everyone will be able to run the truck giving an advantage to some. Now if that person doesnt run the race for a week and drives the truck then sure 5 points sounds like a good idea for that one purpose.

Re: Damage Setting for the December Series
As for the heats, they would stay multiclass so we would split the field in each heat...
