I forgot we were on cold drag tires and I was using the controller as I couldnt use the wheel at the time, and I slid a lot on the first lap. Looking forward to having everyone else on the track tonight. Poor tires on the cadillac lol, so much tire flex! The merc's really heavy but its got a lot of OOMPH to it . And that rx-7 really likes to slide. We should do this again for the porsche pack if anyone plans on getting it
If I'm quick on cold tires you were not bad once they warmed up! You were pushing me hard and that last lap I was around a second faster than I was in previous practices... This race is going to be interesting, qualifying could be interesting because once those tires go this track/car combo is not easy to pass on.
And as much as it pains me that they were not in the game to begin with I'll probably be getting the Porsche pack, and I'd be down to host another night of racing. We might need 2 nights to get thru all the cars there!

I'll be picking up the Porsche pack as well... I was a bit bummed out when they were not in the game...

I don't remember what happened. General suckiness on my part, I'm sure.
That was a lot of fun. Is that what cycled production is like? I had to bail at the Jag but of the seven I did drive, I enjoyed the Maserati the most. The Volvo battle to the top of the mountain was awesome!

Re: Celebrating the Release of New Cars with racing! and prizes!
Was a good time last night. I think my favorite race was Sedona with the RX7, when Marm and I had a drag race down the straight to the finish line. Followed closely by the Jag around the Alps....man that car can drift. I mean you may not really want it to, but it does anyways, and it's a treat to hold it sideways
I still think the Mercedes, and the RX7 are missing sounds tho...they go silent when downshifting, or you let off the gas. The RX7 especially, I was expecting that car to sound like a thousand angry cats being attacked by bees under hard downshifts...but nothing.
In stock setup I seem to be decently competitive with the group...even beat Converge once, albeit JUST....I was prepared to block on the last straight of Maple if I had too LOL! but when we start getting into tunes (Mugen Civic) I'm falling off. So I will spend a bit more time tinkering with ForzaTune, and the spreadsheets that Lou linked.

In an ideal world? Yes, that's what cycled production should be like. However, once again, you do get the rammers and just poor sports out there. When I started racing online (before there were a lot of griefers), that's what it was like. Generally clean racing.

Maybe we could have a casual drop-in/drop-out cycled production evening every now and then.

I'd participate.... Cycle Production can be really fun...
Re: Celebrating the Release of New Cars with racing! and prizes!
I'd be in too, I like cycled production. I would love to do an 'oddballs' night, where you take out cars that probably don't get used a whole lot. There are cars that (obviously) I have never used in the game, it would be fun to be dumped in them and give them a try. The Jag is a good example, I prolly never would have bothered with it, but it's a fun ass car.

I'd be down too, I think this club racing of the new packs really gets people into cars they'd never even bother to look at...When you do take the time to test each car sometimes you can find some really delightful surprises.
Yeah once the tires warmed up i was much more comfortable throwing it through the corners...I noticed I was keeping up better with you through the esses, but once those were done you just zoomed away. And that time you went wide right before the back straight I slid too and screwed up a chance to make up ground . Then on the next lap after the hairpin when we ended up mirror to mirror on the next little straight I got too cautious and ended up on the grass , better than taking both of us out so its alright lol

Anyone planning to get the May car pack? I will be. Would love to have another test drive night but Converge is MIA. Any volunteers to host if he doesn't turn up?

New car pack comes out tomorrow. I believe the price is something like $7.60. Or my dyslexia is kicking in. And not part of the Season Pass either.
But I will pick this one up too.

We'll definitely have one... It's more casual than anything... If you are on, start it up!

So can we plan on 10 PM EST again? I could host too, but don't want to pick all the tracks. Maybe we can match new cars with the tracks we'd like to try them out on? Toss out some ideas, folks. I would think you'd have to try the Hennessey Venom on Le Mans.

I'll have it too.... We can just take turns naming the cars and tracks!
Re: Celebrating the Release of New Cars with racing! and prizes!
Pack, unsurprisingly looks good....the van feels like you are driving a 3 storey building...especially when you close in on the tiny Healey ...I mean you even get to look down on the Hummer...it's tall.

Re: Celebrating the Release of New Cars with racing! and prizes!
That was some fun racing with the new car guys...This pack definitely has more "fun" cars than the last few packs. I'm just going to throw out a few comments on some of the cars.
Austin Healey - this car confuses me with the under/oversteer as dolichocephaly pointed out...Especially under braking, when I let off the brakes the rear end kicked out. Me and marm both fell victim to the same wall on camino during this race lol
Chrysler 300 SRT8- Much quicker than I expected and it handles "alright", its a bit loose but its just that much more fun because of it. Makes a wonderful noise!
Ford Transit - HUGE. I usually play with the chase cam and this thing ate up THE ENTIRE screen lol. But a quick change to the farther chase cam made things better...It feels quicker than I thought it would feel.
Hennessey Venom - The rear wing on this car in this game is for display only , it doesn't keep the back end or anything pushed down into the road at all. This car stock is like driving on ice. BUT. Going down the Mulsanne Straight at 250+ mph with the screen shaking wildly like that was tons of fun
Smart - Like Lou said, with such a short wheelbase its really unstable when you get to "racing speeds" This thing spun out when I was letting off the brakes! I can't imagine how much more unstable it would be with more power. But then again I was playing on simulation steering and I can never correct any spins or slides in that mode...
Finally the Subaru and the Mitsubishi...The galant had AMAZING stock handling IMO. It had decent power and it stuck to the ground. The Subaru wasnt as good as the mitsubishi in terms of handling but it still handled well. Both cars would do tons better with a good tune.
Sorry for the essay..just sharing my thoughts on the cars!

Re: Celebrating the Release of New Cars with racing! and prizes!
I would just like to apologize to everybody for my poor driving skills. I guess I need to get a little familiar with the cars before driving with everybody. From bashing with Red Sniper (I truly am sorry). To punting Joe off at Maple Valley. Lastly, to "The Series" (assuming he/she sees this), you were lagging (to me) and I didn't know what to do. Tried to avoid you and next thing I know, I was driving inside your car.
Here's hoping I'm not as bad tonight. I don't think I will be. But who knows.
As for my synopsis of the cars that I drove:
The 300 was not to my liking. Too tail happy for my driving styel.
The Austin was fun just because it was all over the place and you don't get penalized as much for screwing up (could be that it's a "slow" car as well).
Hennessy - fuhgettaboutit. This thing is a handful. and I guess I need to be harder on the brakes when I drive.
Pacer - not much to report here.
Lotus - not too shabby
edit:
Wrangler - steering was slow? Seemd that you had to put in a lot of input for it to respond.
Did I drive more? Can't remember. But that's about it for me. Next up, Porsche Pack.

Punted joe huh? No worries, you should have seen what I did to him in the jeep on laguna seca. Then had to down the rest of the race watching him catch up to me, anticipating major payback. Talk about a physc out.

LOL, this was on the 2nd last turn at Maple Valley, he braked a little, and then I slid over to him. Sent him out to pasture.
My psyche out was with Red, once again, I was inside, slid out and pushed him off the track. When we came around that turn again, I slowed right down and he came across my path. Unfortunately, while I figured that was coming, I couldn't do anything to take the position back.
I tried to pass him when we were racing Jeeps at Road Atlanta. I could catch up to him, but never pass him.

Was that when you pushed him off at the end of the strait sayin "Here Joe.. Let me give you a hand!"?
Re: Celebrating the Release of New Cars with racing! and prizes!
Are we celebrating PEP tomorrow? I know Lou wanted to hold off and people are practicing for Wednesday, but it's Porsche! Let's do this!! I plan to cycle through as many as I can from 8:00 to 10:00-ish EST tomorrow. (I can't do the 10:00 start but will probably go until 10:30.) If you're on sometime in that range and bought the pack, drop in and out as you wish. I'll race AI's if no one is around. Maybe someone else can step up and host for you later folks. So what do you say?
