Notes from a Tech guy! Empty Notes from a Tech guy!

So... I've been noticing that web sites started looking a bit off a few weeks ago... Not so "off" that it really bothered me (only a slight tickle really), but enough for me to notice. Things just seemed to be a bit bigger.... scratch I just shrugged and moved on, but it REALLY bothered me when using the laptop screen and it's lower resolution (I run dual monitors at the office, one is 1920x1080 and the other is 1680x1050 as opposed to the Laptop screen which is a measly 1280x800). I lived with it simply because I had more important things to do like WORK, posting and messing with the forums....

Today, I was heading into the settings in Chrome and stumbled into the zoom section.... BEHOLD!!! zoom was set to 110%.... I dropped it back down to 100% and OMFG it looks normal again!

Moral of the story? You can be really good at something and still fail.... EPIC!!! Very Happy geek rendeer drunken cheers bom I get the dunce hat for the remainder! flower

So, this is not as 'techie' as Lou's.

Yesterday, I get a call from a concerned principal saying that she has kids reporting that another kid is making them go to 'this porn website'. So she gives me the whole speil about calling CAS, and them saying it's a school issue, blah, blah, blah.

Fine, how can I help?

Well, can you check to see if this is actually a real site? I don't want to do it, because I don't want there to be a history or log of visiting it on my machine at work, etc, etc, etc.

Sure, what is the site?

Pornhub.com

Oh yeah, that a real...I MEAN....let me just type that in.....

Rolling Eyes DOH!

LOLOLOLOL

What the hell is CAS going to do?

And how do YOU explain to your boss why you're visiting pornhub?

I did something similar. I went a looked up Dog Fort (funny pictures of dogs). Ended up going to dogfart.com (or some derivative of it). Well, wouldn't you know it, full screen pic of some girl takin' it up the rear. Ooops.

We don't filter our internet, so getting asked to look at a 'questionable site' isn't out of the ordinary. If the caching server has 100's of pages of it...weeelll...that's another story....but hitting 'a page' doesn't really raise many eyebrows.

Why in gods name would someone name a porn site 'dogfart'?? Jesus, is there another phrase that could kill the moment quite like that?
