January 2013 Series: S-Class Late Model Sports Car Showdown Empty January 2013 Series: S-Class Late Model Sports Car Showdown

Post by BiggLou55 Fri Dec 28, 2012 6:39 pm

Welcome to the first U2SC Series race of 2013. 2012 was a great year for U2SC. We've formed friendships. We've laughed, and we've cried together. Ultimately we've become a "family"… It's a U2SC tradition to have a monthly series race, and we continue this into 2013 with….

The S-Class Late Model Sports Car Showdown

We have yet to do a S-Class series, so let's kick 2013 off with one!

NOTE: You may drive a different car each week, but you must run the same car in both heats that make up the weekly race....

Car Selection Restrictions:
  • Body Family = Sports Car
  • Car Type = Production
  • Model Year = 2000 or newer (model year 2000-2013)
  • Drive Type = RWD (however, AWD and FWD cars may be converted to RWD for this series as long as the meet the other three criteria set above)

*NOTE: When selecting a car, please be sure to validate all of the configurations above. If you hit "X" when looking at a car you can use "RB" and "LB" to scroll through the categories… Car Type and Body Style are right next to each other. We will be restricting the Lobby to the settings above for each race. I'd hate to see you build a car that you thought was allowed only to find it is not. To test your car selection, start a private lobby and enforce the settings above. You'll quickly see what cars you already have are eligible…
***Eligible Cars list: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0Bz4OFHHLsSxmQmtmWHg0MGxMZXM (the list is prefiltered for this series)

Upgrade Restrictions:
  • Max PI: 700 (S-Class)
  • Engine & Power: No Restrictions
  • Platform & Handling: No Restrictions
  • Drivetrain: No Restrictions
  • Tires and Rims: No Restrictions
  • Aero and Appearance: Race Aero front and rear required
  • Conversation: Engine swaps ARE allowed (changed on 01/03/2013 by Lou). Aspiration Conversions are allowed. Drivetrain swaps allowed only to covert to RWD

Ineligible Cars
These cars meet the requirements, but are MUCH better than the rest of the eligible cars. Keep an eye on this list. It may grow as I complete testing.
  • Honda NSX-R GT .... I LOVE this car as S-Class, but it is over 2 seconds faster than a comparable Ferrari F430 on Road America. It would win just about every race... However, We may reserve this car for less experienced drivers to give them an edge!

Tracks:
During each weekly session, there will be Two 8 Lap races or "heats" at each track. The first race will be a Random Grid, and the second race with reverse PI grid. This is how we ran December's series race and it worked VERY well. (scoring is listed below)
  • Week #1: Silverstone GP Full
  • Week #2: Nurburgring GP Full
  • Week #3: Twin Ring Motegi Full
  • Week #4: Road America

Series Scoring:
Scoring is for each race (remember two per session)
  • 1st = 50 points
  • 2nd = 47 points
  • 3rd = 45 points
  • 4th = 43 points
  • 5th = 42 points
  • 6th = 41 points (and on down to 1 point)
  • DNF will receive the last place score -1 point
  • DNR and DQ will receive 0 points
  • The lowest weekly combined score will be dropped when the final standings are compiled.

Also... I've added an ineligible car list... First one on the list is the NSX-R GT. It meets the requirements, but is WAY better than any of the other cars I've tested (E92 M3, Grand Sport, F430, etc.)... I'm still going through the cars, but I think that's may be the only ineligible car from the available pool... Stay tuned...

Congrats dude.  Somehow, I don't think you'll make it.  You gonna be driving like Beef in the Z.  All tired and zoned out.

In any case, back to the topic.  Are Z4's considered sports cars?  It seems that they are classified as Roadsters or did I grab the wrong one?  No worries.  I want to take the TVR to the track.  But I'm not sure it's good 'nuff.

I still wanna try out the Jag, Z3 Shoe, and the Cayman.

Ran the TVR (mid 2:14), '10 Shelby (mid 2:14) and the Vantage (mid 2:13) at Road America.

Nice to have a full lobby last night.

Man, I had a helluva time last night. Get bumped and forced all the way to the back of the grid.

Apologies for my lack of passing etiquette to those I passed.
