Re: The new Xbox!
I just want forza 5 to be on the current xbox - I don't want to have to spend money on a new console when I got mine 2 years ago

I know what you mean. I plan on posting my quad on craigslist tomorrow so that I'll have money to buy the new console, a game or two, and maybe one of those fancy racing rigs y'all got.

Re: The new Xbox!
I would love to see a forza 5 that would be like test drive unlimited, where you could meet people between tracks and look at there cars before going to the race track. Maybe extend the club limit to two hundred members. As far as the new Xbox itself I hope it has something that makes it stand apart from everything else or I'll just not buy it.

Re: The new Xbox!
Yeah... Time to plan the finances for release... I will likely pre-order it from Amazon as long as I have the funds...
My thinking is that FM5 will be a Launch game for it as well...

Re: The new Xbox!
The rumors have been scary so I stopped reading. "Always On" is fine, it's 2013 and I'm always on the internet anyway. The "not backwards compatible" part, though, is lame. Supposedly you can buy a $100 attachment that plays 360 games. So for another hundred you can buy an old xbox to attach to your new xbox so you can keep playing xbox.
This is when I start to assume my Fanatec hardware won't work either, but really that's just paranoid speculation so I'll hush up.

Re: The new Xbox!
Yeah. if it's true about the not backwards compatible they may lose a lot of sales. also there's a rumor that it won't allow second hand games. so you mean to tell me I can't buy a used game and play it? I won't buy a new Xbox on that issue alone. hopefully it's just speculation tho.I wonder what it'll look like.

Agreed, but I would say that the current 360 qualifies as "good enough" for a few more yearsBiggLou55 wrote:The 360 was not backward to the original Xbox and it did just fine...

There is a significant suite of Xbox games that will work on the 360. In fact I played through Halo 2 with (admittedly) few issues just last year. This year, hopefully, I'll finally get through KOTOR. Although you're right and it isn't fully hardware backwards compatible, there was still some support and you didn't have to pay extra for it.
Also the Xbox didn't have a lifespan of almost 10 years. For a lot of us our game libraries have grown extensive and we'd like to hold onto them. Yes I understand it's not trivial to just "make it work", but some effort would be appreciated. As it stands I feel we are expected to simply rebuy the games from the digital storefront on the next gen systems if we want to play them. Feh.
We could always keep our current 360s around but I wonder how long they'll be compatible with the next gen of XBL. It will be a sad and shitty day when that gets cut off, assuming it ever does (speculation is SO MUCH FUN).
Nintendo does it right. Every system is fully backwards compatible to at least one generation previous. It's fantastic and they're the only one doing it.
This is all hot air though and I know that. OF COURSE we'll buy the next gen (but maybe not ps4 this time). Halo 5, FM5, and Witcher 3. Damn it.

Re: The new Xbox!
No used games would likely be a deal breaker for me as well. I rarely buy games new, I always have a backlog of stuff to play so I have no reason to run out and pay $60 for something that will cost me $25 in a couple months. That being said, Forza 5 will be my first ever pre-order if it is released on the 360.
I also will not be purchasing the Durango/720/whateverthehell on release day. I will never, ever forgive Microsoft for releasing the 360 in such a slapped-together-get-it-out-the-door-now! state. The gall of charging $300 for something they KNEW could not properly dissipate heat (leading to imminent hardware failure) still pisses me off every time I think about it. I've already got the money put aside, but will check out reviews and sleep on it for a few weeks before jumping in. Best case scenario is they sell out everywhere and create a huge backlog, forcing me to wait and see how it performs over time.
But yes, I am very excited to hear the official announcement and see just what we're dealing with here. And who knows, maybe they have come up with something so mind-blowing I will beg them to take my money. Ok, that's not likely, but I can hope...

Yeah. What was it, 15-30% failure rate? WHAT?
That said, I had more bad luck with PS3s than Xboxes (I consider myself lucky in that regard). We've gone through 4 PS3s and 3 Xboxes. Ahead by 1!

Re: The new Xbox!
Damn, nub I've only had 1 Xbox, a 120GB Elite, which will celebrate its 3rd birthday in a couple of weeks. Only issue is a sticky DVD tray. Had to open the thing up and employ some MacGyver voodoo with a piece of card (instructions courtesy of youtube) to get it to work again. That was somewhere near the end of 2011.
What I really want to know about the new Xbox, is how Live is going to work if you have a 360 and "720".
As for FM5, all I want is Spa.

Re: The new Xbox!
+1 to Spa.... And... I want the Old (original) Amalfi Coast and MONACO, Watkins Glen, add the older longer version of Hockenheim, Le Mans Bugatti Circuit, Isle of Man TT (to go along with Nurburg), the updated Silverstone, Fuji, Shanghai, Sepang, Yas Marina, Marina Bay, and some city tracks (like Long Beach, etc. and the newly proposed Port Imperial Street Circuit in NJ)!!!! Just to name a few...
We need a track refresh for FM5 and lots of new options (especially since the new Xbox will be Bluray based and can handle more data...)

Re: The new Xbox!
I'm with you; new hardware is always something to be avoided until everyone else realizes what's wrong with it. In addition, I think it automatically decreases in price after something like a couple weeks.joekorn wrote:No used games would likely be a deal breaker for me as well. Hah that's badass! I'm not as crafty.
To be fair our household is pretty geeky so our numbers aren't necessarily in line with reality. Case in point, two people live in the house but we have 3 active 360s. Bedroom, living room, and then my personal one that's hooked up to the Fanatec gear on a computer desk (for racing and first person shooters). This kind of setup makes me all the more "patient" for a next-gen wave to come through since we're pretty invested. But on the other hand we had ~8 years to accumulate it all.
I'm with beef in regards to how I'd be happy with the current gen for even a few more years. Oh well.
If anything the "720" will be nice because maybe I can consolidate the 3 into one Forza 4 multi-display setup. Regardless, we certainly won't be going ape-crazy stupid with the new hardware, especially at first.

Re: The new Xbox!
They should call it the 420 and have it only come in a crusty green, or green with purple or red highlights!!
Re: The new Xbox!
I think that may be a little much to ask in addition to what we already have, but I can't say I wouldn't like to see a few of those too...BiggLou55 wrote:+1 to Spa.... And... I am always hesitant with preordering systems. I wanted to do it with my ps3 but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. now I have to keep my old ps2 because I didn't get the first gen ps3 and it isn't compatible with those disks... I seriously wonder why they don't work in that system - they are the same size, shouldn't that be enough...?
Anyway, this may be the first system that I preorder if I like the launch game lineup for it

Re: The new Xbox!
The old Hockenheim was great. Those long stretches through the forest. The chicane with the wall which Gerhard Berger smashed into one year (hope my memory's good on this ). But of course it's F1, so they had to butcher it. On the other hand, at least it's still on the calendar ...
Monaco would be awesome. Especially with Porsches
Also really hope they keep the Bernese Alps. I love that track.

Re: The new Xbox!
I think Ryse will be awesome, apparently it is going to be a launch title. They were planning to release it two years ago for Kinect, but apparently MS convinced them to shelve it and redevelop for the new system (with promises it would become the next big series). Here's a link to the old trailer, I would definitely be up for some medieval-style hand to hand combat!

On a related note, how great would the next Elder Scrolls game be with well-done Kinect 2.0 controls? That's 300 hours of exercise I'd be getting
