Re: July Bounty
I didn't take your post as 'whining' Fischs, the Rivals events can be utterly annoying sometimes. And like you, MOST of the unicorns I have, sit in my garage and I rarely use them. Like I posted in another thread, it's not that I expect them to be 'killer' cars, but it would be nice if they were at least 'on par' with some of the LB cars in the game.
Having said that, some of them are. The NSX-R GT that Frank had for a Maple Valley Rivals was crazy fast, but so was Beef's Lancia. I just got the BMW about a week ago, and it's nice also...if it were tuned by Lou or Frank, it would probably be amazing.
It's a bit of a 'catch 22' ...while they stand to lose nothing by giving the cars away to as many people as possible, look at the Rampage challenge, everyone was dogging them on how easy it was...where is the middle ground? I liked Lou's suggestion. Pick a date where the time is final, and give people 3-4 days to work on a final time, updating your time right up until there is 24 hrs left seems a bit unfair. Unlike T10, our job is not to sit at Forza during the day 'playing' setting these times, we fit it in our daily life schedules of work, family, soccer practice, wife aggro etc...so having a bit more time with an 'actual' target would make the process seem fairer, or that at least you had a reasonable chance.

Re: July Bounty
I don't have all the unicorns yet but the NSX and BMW are my favourite. They are both nice cars.
There are two bounties that annoyed me. The last one when he set his best time Monday night and it was over a second faster then his previous time. To me it felt like being hustled in a pool hall. I had no time opportunity to beat it. The other one was the drift challenge where I had beat his score at the end time but for some reason he was able to better his score and they gave a 24 hour period to try to beat the new score. For me, I was not able to better my score from the reasons you mentioned and I missed out. Both left a bad taste in my mouth and I am surprised as a company that wants new players for promotion that they continue to do this.
Lou is spot on, make a deadline that is manageable.

Re: July Bounty
I tuned up a Pinto last night and was able to get down to a 1:08:585.... I shared it in the club garage (it's black). At this point, I'm down to shaving 100-ths off each lap. I ran about 20 laps last night, but I never got that perfect lap. If I can hit the prefect lap, I might be able to manage a sub 1:08 time. As it stands, my time is in the top 3000. I figure as long as I stay within the top 5000, I'll be OK. Remember, if he finishes in the top 5000, he doesn't have to wear the Red Sox gear. That means he's motivated to improve!

I've just noticed that the AMC Gremlin X is a FREE download....

Re: July Bounty
It is... Every DLC has a free car.... And you should grab them... by grabbing the free car from each pack, you will no longer see blacked out V-Dubs in place of DLC cars! ;-)
Re: July Bounty
I just have to say that mark's tune on that pinto is absolutely perfect. I shaved 5 whole seconds off of my time to get a 1:07.347 with it. great job mark!

Re: July Bounty
Yep.... By downloading the free car from each DLC, you are actually downloading the entire DLC, but only the free car is unlocked!... ;-)
Re: July Bounty
Here is the list of FREE DLC cars from each pack and more....
don't believe me? Check it out for yourself! If you will take note the size of the download for each car in the same pack is IDENTICAL to the size of the pack itself!

Sadly, there isn't one for the Porsche pack, but I think they patched everyone's game to be able to see the Porsche cars...
- 2011 Volkswagen Scirocco R (Nov-2011 DLC)
- 2011 Mazda RX-8 R3 (Dec-2011 DLC)
- 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe (Jan-2012 DLC)
- 2011 Volkswagen Polo GTI (Feb-2012 DLC)
- 2011 Wiesmann GT MF5 (Mar-2012 DLC)
- 2012 Scion tC (Apr-2012 DLC)
- 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 (May-2012 DLC)
- 2011 Aston Martin Cygnet (Jun-2012 DLC)
- 1973 AMC Gremlin X (Jul-2012 DLC)
- 2012 BMW M5 (special Oct-2011 & it's also linked to the muscle car pack which is why most everyone can see all the muscle cars!)
- Hyundai Veloster Bonus Pack (special Jan-2012)
- 2013 SRT Viper GTS Bonus Pack (special June-2012)

Re: July Bounty
It sounds like phRED might be content with a top 5000 time and won't break out the Pinto unless he's forced to. I just hit the 1:08.xxx range so I'm good for now. I got pretty far with Mark's Pinto and even farther with Lou's. Nice work and thanks for sharing, guys!

Re: July Bounty
I agree.... only reason I stopped last night was because I was nodding off... I know I've got more time in my car, and I have yet to give Mark's a try...
Re: July Bounty
I have to ask once again, how many laps are you guys turning? I saw beef say 20.
I don't know. It took me 4 or 5 laps to beat eric. Kept hitting that magic dirty spot. Just didn't bother to continue to improve my time.
Guess I should give this one a real try since it may be the last one.

I prolly turned about 20-25 laps. I took first rival offered, which was Mopar. Beat him, did a couple more laps.
Then I restarted with Nubs ghost and wasn't getting anywhere, slightly improved my time, but not enough to catch phRED, so i switched to Franks ghost, and after 5-6 laps I finished JUST shy of him, so I quit, took that lap, and that was it for me.

Re: July Bounty
yeah, I only did 5 laps in the gremlin (hes probably done at least 20 times that much) and the best I got was either a high 11 or a low 12BiggLou55 wrote:He's currently sitting at 1:09.708, but he has yet to run the Pinto... We'll see...

I can see that....Horizon is just around the corner. I expect the Dev time will go to the new title once it's out.

Re: July Bounty
phREDs new time:
1:08:896
...still safe, but looks like I'll be trying to put some padding on my time tonight...mid 1:05 is my target.
And to quote phRED: "1:08:896 in the first go with the Pinto...lots of time left on the track"

Re: July Bounty
I doubt that this will be the last one... At least I hope not.... To stop FM4 community stuff would be killing the franchise. It's an awfully large gamble if they all bail to FH.... FM4 is still core to the franchise.
Re: July Bounty
I don't think it would kill it. It might kill the growth. Potentially.
They didn't have this in FM3, and people were still going with it.
