What Series Race do you want for September (choose 1)?
Re: September Race Poll
Dont know yet viper. I'll look into it when I get home tonight. I'm going to try and shoot for a high c or low b whichever car we decide on. Keeping to actual spec tradition, I can tell you what will be on the car no matter what it is. Race Roll cage, sport weight reduction, sport suspension and anti roll bars. In the power department, probably race air filter and exhuast and perhaps fluid cooling. The rest I'm not sure on, I'll have to look at the playboy rule book.

Re: September Race Poll
I'm with frank. I think at least some of the suspension parts should be race parts. we did it for the mugen spec series and that was still some very tight racing. It would be nice to be able to tune our cars to fit our driving style. plus it adds an incentive to learn how to tune instead of just adapting to the car

Re: September Race Poll
Yeah, at the least we could have race suspension, that opens up a boatload of tuning options.
Are we going with the playboy mx-5 cup or the spec miata? Is there a difference between the two? I'm not too familiar with it!
edit: found this! http://fmspecmiata.5forum.net/t5-mx5-cup-technical-specifications
and this : http://www.mx-5cup.com/2012/inside/index.php#car
Doing all this research and we aren't sure if we're running this series yet!

Re: September Race Poll
to be honest I am still hoping for the M3 spec or the R3 race series. I don't really like the lower classes. B class is pretty much my limit for a 30 minute long race. c class is fun for a short 3-5 lap race but thats about as much as I can handle

I thought you would like that but I can't take total credit for the idea. Someone jokingly suggested it for Sedona and I ran with it.Lowflyinmx3 wrote:I like the way this guy thinks!xraydash wrote:A low (pun intended) class miata spec race would be a lot of fun. Can we throw 20 or so laps at Positano in there one week if that's what we decide to do? With a reverse for the qualifier just to mess with everyone's heads!

I'm fine with whatever shakes out but I actually prefer the lower classes. C Class with tight racing on smaller tracks sounds like a lot of fun to me.

Me too...
And on the C or B class spec race, I'm with Frank... We need race suspension bits (Shocks and ARB)... Everything else can be Sport or less...

Ok so then no one is interested in a drivers cup?

Does "Drivers' Cup" mean one where there's a single build that all drivers use? I'd be in favor of something like that, at least once. I always feel a little bit clueless when tuning is involved, even when I'm using a base tune from Lou or Frank. Something where all of the drivers are set to a stock tune would be fun for a series, I think.
I did vote, however, for the birth year series for September. The last few series have been limited in the number of available cars, and it would be nice to have a series with a much wider range. It would also be fun to do a variety of liveries for different eras of cars for other drivers in the club.
Re: September Race Poll
If the drivers cup gets the most votes I will drive it but I can't drive cars without adjusting them to my driving style. That is my problem with it I need a car that fits my style perfect like the Evo 6.Lowflyinmx3 wrote:Ok so then no one is interested in a drivers cup?

Re: September Race Poll
I'll drive it too...
BUT... If the only adjustable bits are the Suspension (spring/ARB) and the final drive and all other parts are spec'd like we did in April, I think it would be VERY tight racing like April.
Looking back, the best series so far have been the ones with much narrower selection of cars... March with Mid Engine RWD cars 1984 and earlier, April with the Mugen, May with the '64-'73 muscle, July with the (but the 3-class multiclass thing was somewhat a fail)...
That's it... June was fun, but if you weren't driving the Mosler or your GT didn't have "Mark" in it, you pretty much we racing for 4th... The verdict is still out on this month, but it's looking good so far...
Point? We seem to have more fun and have better racing when we restrict car selection... I like the Miata and M3 challenge... I like the S-class Euro -v- Asia thing and I like the R3 class GT cars... One thing that June did do for me was begin to cure my fear of R class.... It seems to have done the same for others... We now regularly run R3 cars in Cat-n-Mouse and Soccer, as well as on the cicuits...

Re: September Race Poll
I also think with next months series we need tio start getting back into damage and mandatory pits.. It really jumbled around positions and was unpredictable to even the best drivers in our club. I think it makes our series more real feeling also. Just my opinion though.

Re: September Race Poll
BTW.... Here is a list of all the cars that "could" be eligible for an R3 GT race. I do think if this is the way we go, that we restrict it a bit more. This is a BIG list and these cars are expensive! Not a whole lot of trial and error that can be done between cars...

Re: September Race Poll
rom what the leaderboards look like, the cusco impreza will probably dominate. maybe we should have a power restriction on the cars. maybe a 550 or 575 HP maximum?

Then it gets turned off I dont know, lately Ive just been bored with the series races no offense. I feel like they are getting to easy in a way. When I joined at the end of March and we started the April series with the Civics and had damage and pits I was really interested and felt like I had more chances to get up in positions. But Idk whatever we do is what we do. Its almost like we have been taking an easy on the series from April to now. As a club we have gotten a lot better at racing and I think at some point the series needs to be spiced up and have a little more difficulty added to them.

I just looked it up and the handling of the asian cars are far superior to any other car that would be eligable. I think we would have to get rid of asia for this one...

Re: September Race Poll
My R3 Series Idea is nearly perfect all cars will be pretty much at the same pace of course some cars have advantages at some tracks. The Cusco Impreza is not a car for speed tracks. ;-)
@Lou Both the standard PI or upgraded to 800 or 875 are possible only the eligible cars will change because of my selecting method.
EDIT: Damage could be a good idea and mandatory pit stops also but then the we will need tracks that are built for the speed of the cars and be careful.

Case, I'm not trying to sound flippant, frustrated or rude here.
You can set your own series up. Pick a night (say Tuesday at 10 pm est). Set the series how you like it. Post it up and let people join in. That's the easiest method. You get a high turnout, and maybe it becomes a monthly series.
Me, I don't care about prizes. I just race cuz it's fun.
As you can see in this thread, you can't satisfy everybody. Some want R3 or higher, others want less than B.
I respect your wants. I'd be more than willing to join in your races and would put my best foot forward. If you want to take this to pm, I am willing to help set this up. Not that my help isneeded. But I'll be there to race you, hpi and muffy if he's there.
That all being said, please note that our members are all at different levels. Bringing in damage might scare away some from participating.
