What Series Race do you want for September (choose 1)?
Re: September Race Poll
Damage is good for 1 off races and A-class or below series... My problem with Damage in FM4 is that once your body is damaged, you lost the race... PERIOD... Once your body gets damaged, you lose the top 5-10% of your top speed. We're also still not the cleanest racers. accidental crashes could end someone's night.
I'm good with adding in a required pit stop... that would actually be cool... I prefer not having damage in the series races due to the contact we still have...

Re: September Race Poll
I think this type of race is off the books for now. But how about you combine that with cash's suggestion of making it a series of sprints. You may lose out the race for the podium for that one stint. And you learn quickly who to avoid and patience and all that. Or you just get some really pissed off people.
As I said, take it on another night and have it as an "unsanctioned" series. No harm in it. And the organizer(s) can learn what works and what doesn't. Worst case is that it's a colossal clusterf*** and that's the end of it. Best case is everybody drives clean and has a blast doin it.

Ok. Does anyone know when this poll is suppose to end? I'm willing to organize the spec miata, I would assume beef or frank would be ok with setting up the r-class races. Anyone else want to volunteer? Just trying to get a feeler.....

Re: September Race Poll
Lou's gonna call it when the one he wants is leading the vote.
As stated, I have no vote cuz I don't care. Gimme a car and track and I'm good. I got my weaknesses. No worries if that's what we race.
End the vote soon. Then create another vote on conditions.
Just to eat everybody's time, I'd make the qualifier completely separate. As an example, Sept is R3 and we're racing Infineon. As a qualy, I'd put everybody in F and do section C of Nordschleiffe forcing all assists off (not that you need it for F, but then the fun happens. And you get to hear people whine about this and that.
Of course, it would be a surprise. Let the x'th person who joins the lobby, whatever car that is is what we race. Or something like that.
This club is starting to get too serious. Time to throw a wrench in everybody's plans. Makes it much more fun.

That is right. Damage can be frustrating because of the body damage.BiggLou55 wrote:Damage is good for 1 off races and A-class or below series... In my Series I have 2 possibilities the first is to race a 30 min (20 min qualifing) race without damage and 2 mandatory pit stops or we race 2 races a 15 minutes (10 min quali) with damage and one mandatory pit stop. I would like to reverse the grid after the first race so that the first starts last but this could be not possible because of the lobby settings.
Yes, I would like to organize the r-class Series if not for September then for October

Nice idea on the quali but I would prefer the full Nordschleife in class Fmarmuttlebow wrote:Lou's gonna call it when the one he wants is leading the vote.

Re: September Race Poll
Yeah we could totally have the R3 series one month and the spec series another. There's too many good ideas here to just throw them out completely.
I agree, as much as I'd love damage to add to the strategy, I think it would scare away a lot of people. Most of our club members come from racing in public lobbies and getting rammed off the track and just not having fun at all. If we were to have damage on and have unintended contact with people, they'd probably feel like they were back in the public lobbies again, even if we didn't mean the contact.
And I also agree with Marm, that we might be getting a tad serious with all our races . It's all cool though, I'm down to race anything and everything because it's just fun racing with you guys no matter if we're running fully tuned muscle cars or FWD A class torque steer hondas.

I'm all for letting frank take over september of october. if we can't do the r3 series for september, then we should give frank a shot at running a series in october

Re: September Race Poll
How do pit stops work?
Also, just want to say how impressed I've been with the ideas you guys come up with for series races. Since I joined end of May (sadly too late for the muscle series - hopefully there will be another one at some point ), every month is something fresh and interesting and different.

Re: September Race Poll
maybe we could eventually do a series where we combine our favorite race series from the past. for example, week one could be the muscle car series, week 2 could be R3 supercars, week 3 could be mid engine RWD before 1984 and week 4 could be evo vs. wrx. I think that would be great fun

I've set the poll to run through the rest of the week... It ends Saturday morning, and the choice will be firm them...

Interesting idea, but some may have ditched their series cars.... Also... I'd rather not relive the R3 series from June (the Mosler spanking fest)...
Re: September Race Poll
BUT.... You do bring up a really good idea...
We have some excellent suggestions, but some might prove difficult to pull off... What if we do some sort of Ironman challenge?
Week #1: Spec Miata Race (B-Class) - Everyone MUST race a Stock or Spec Miata from the Club garage. (Low to specify parts/trak)
Week #2: Spec 2002 BMW M3 GTR Challenge (A-Class) - Everyone Tunes and Runs their M3 GTR (there will be one or more in the garage for those that do not have it) (TBD to create the spec/track)
Week #3: Asia Front Engine RWD Challenge (S-Class) - If it's from Asia and it's Front Engine RWD (conversions allowed), then it's eligible. (TBD to create Spec/track)
Week #4: R3 GT Car Challenger (R3-Class) - GT Cars Only (Frank to set the car list and spec/track)
Thoughts?

Nice idea Lou
That would be a awesome Series. There is something for everyone in it.

Re: September Race Poll
I like the idea Beef, but we should do a year in review series in December or January... Each week features a race from one of the 2012 series races.... Voted on by the club!

It's really Beef's Idea.... I just put a different spin on it.... I'll add it to the poll...
Re: September Race Poll
OK... I updated the Poll for the lat time... Details are in my Original Post.
Re: September Race Poll
Is this poll closed, then? I started painting a couple of possible cars for the "Birthyear" Series since it's the one in the lead...
Re: September Race Poll
Yes it's closed and Low and I chatted about it last night...
We will be doing a "Before your were born" style series race...
It will be set up one of two ways...
1. You will be able to choose a car within 5 years of your birth year... For example: I was born in 1972. That means I would choose a car from 1970-1975. (My birth year +2 and -2)
2. You will be able to choose a car from your birth year and earlier (1940). For example: I would be able to choose a car from 1940-1972...
Whatever the the confines, the rules will be simple. As long as the car is Production (no pre-tuned or race cars) class, and you do not exceed A600, anything goes.... ALL parts and swaps are legit... The younger guys may win this one, but we have yet to choose the venues for the races! You never know with me and Low putting this one together!

Re: September Race Poll
A Class...
Low and I chatted about it last night...
A-Class and the only restriction (other than the years available to you) will be it has to be a Production class...

Re: September Race Poll
ok, sounds good. I recently found some pretty good A class cars I might be able to use depending on what type of restriction we do on the year.

Re: September Race Poll
This will be a very nice Series.
I would set the series up with the five year span but maybe let the last year be your birthyear. For example 1978-1983.
Am I right that I will set up the October series then?
